NHL has given me an opportunity to grow as an individual: guiding, supporting and making my learning path as an Account Technician Apprentice enjoyable. As a young adult it has given me a taste of an adult life, earning a living within a full-time position while learning to grow further. Within NHL I have gained many new skills and knowledge, gaining confidence every day in the tasks I carry out.

I joined NHL in October 2023 as Production Manager. In my position, each day presents a new challenge and learning opportunity. NHL is a great place to work and strives for a friendly, team-orientated environment with a sensitivity to balancing work and personal time. Within NHL there is an essence of camaraderie at all levels which creates an energetic work environment where one can easily foster and share new ideas. Our successes, milestones and achievements are always recognised, and all team members are encouraged and nurtured to be the best they can be. Respect, care and excellence are qualities that exude from the top and cascade throughout the rest of the company. NHL care about their customers and employees and everyone works considerably and competently to succeed.

I re-joined Northern Hydraulics in April 2024 as an assembly/test operative. Having worked here before I was familiar with the assembly aspect of the job but hadn't been on test rigs before. One thing I had noticed bout the company is that it had greatly expanded from the last time I was here, new machines more staff and a bigger range of products, showing me that the company has been going from strength to strength. Since re-joining I've been given plenty of opportunities to learn on the job and plenty of help in re-learning assembly skills and learning new skills required to test our products. Within the last year I've also been given the opportunity to learn different aspects of welding whilst attending a weld training course. I was also enrolled in an 8-week mentoring programme in association with MEGA- Manufacturing & Engineering Growth and Advancement and South West College where I completed an ILM level 3 mentoring programme, since completing and passing this programme I've been tasked with mentoring apprentices within NHL. After finishing this program and with the help of my Production manager and advice from other Engineers within the company I've now been given the opportunity to become a Team leader and whilst I'm still learning all about this role, I’ll try my best to help the company hit targets and keep customer satisfaction up as I continue my learning curve within NHL.
